This isn't really a TG question though. You can either fly TG OR you can fly really cheap.
Flying PG or TR is a bit cheaper, but not significantly. On the days that I've priced, TG is about 450 USD, while the LCCs are around 320 USD. Other LCCs wouldn't be able to join PNRs like TG. AirAsia would probably force you through immigration at DMK before getting on the next flight, something weird like that.

The difficulty at the moment is also that I am visiting friends in RGN that I would need to visit first, before heading to Bagan and Mandalay.
