It's 1.15 am here in London and I've missed my chance on a couple of these. I was going to say 28 was Braniff (did that get guessed earlier ?), being the only carrier I could think of that could have served both CRP and AMS. Oh well.
13 . But WHY was British Eagle operating a BAC One-Eleven on the ZRH-LHR route for Swissair?
This was courtesy of Douglas Aircraft, who had got into a delivery mess in 1967 with orders for the new DC-9, too many orders taken by the sales team for Stretched DC-8s for all the US military charter operators, and other aspects. Late with Swissair's new DC-9s, Douglas chartered them a One-Eleven from British Eagle, had it (in fact two; they changed over the aircraft midway through the lease) painted in Swissair colours, and it ran a number of different operations throughout 1967-8. British Eagle crewed it from London, but it ran to various other places from Zurich as well like Frankfurt, Brussels and Prague. When it was in for maintenance one of the other Eagle One-Eleven fleet was substituted.
