First many thanks to those of you who responded with information or suggestions. They were much appreciated and typical of the good spirit that most FTers exhibit.

Second, I note that there were a number of unhelpful and impolite posts. They included suggestions that somehow my course of action might be "illegal", "unethical" or similar. It is noteworthy that almost without exception these posts came from those on this forum who appear to have no status with Hilton. What do they think the HH programme is? It is not a country club, but a business promotion by a commercial organisation to incentivise its best customers to chose the Hilton brand over others. Hilton actively provide benefits to members to ALLOW them to jump the queue. For example do those who think that I was wrong to try and find a way to stay a second night in the room of my choice, think the whole Diamond Force programme is illegal or unethical? It follows that by allowing and promoting Diamond Force, Hilton are saying that they want the Diamond HH member to stay in their hotel more than Jo public and if the consequences of a Diamond member using a Diamond Force is that they have to walk someone so be it. This is Hilton policy. Would those who accuse me of trying doing something illegal or unethical say that Hilton is doing something illegal or unethical? It is Hilton's ball and it is up to them to set the rules and those that don't like them should just choose another brand. If they have no status they are unlikely to miss the perks and Hilton are unlikely to miss their spend.

I also suggest that those who use the word "illegal" in posts on FT should do a little studying of the Innkeeper's Statutes around the world before they start to use words they obviously do not understand.
