What is your opinion, take the risk and save $ 300+ or stay with HERTZ or another major company?
Just a note, in my opinion Europcar, Hertz, Avis and Sixt are all quite similar sized companies in Europe. So in that sense I don't see that as a risk. The rules in Europe are a bit more strict what comes to dents/scratches as usually the locations are not corporate and the resell value of the car of course drops dramatically with each scratch (or on the other hand, it costs money when the dents are fixed etc etc). At least in Finland all the rental companies are subsidiaries of the companies importing the cars to Finland so they are having mainly the brands which are represented by the car import company (Sixt - Merc, Ford, Citroen, Hertz - Volvo). That way they I guess can more easily get rid of the cars by putting them in sale on the stores of the car importing company.
What comes to rudeness, not able to say, maybe I'm not the best to answer as the service in here is not similar as to the states..

The service is quite similar for each of the bigger companies at least in Finland, and maybe in general in the Nordics.
Just my two cents.
