Subscription to Economy Plus gets 2X purchase miles?
As a member who no longer has any status, since I am about to take a number of trips, it seems like it be worthwhile to purchase a subscription to E+ seating. The question is, does this qualify as "travel" for double miles on a credit card purchase (UA Explorer, UA Business, or Chase Sapphire?) A call to Chase Sapphire could produce not definitive answer ("depends on how the merchant classifies the purchase.") The word on UA Explorer and UA business solicitations both state double miles on purchase of "Tickets" from UA.
I know I can get double miles buying this using a Capital1 Venture card - but they aren't transferable to United.
Although knowing that most of the people on here, because of status, would never have a use for purchasing" an E+ subscription, has anyone done this and gotten double miles?
(While trying to burn off all my accumulated United miles, I still hate to throw away free miles, for however little they are now worth.)
