Website states clearly that new lower earning will apply to *travel* after Apr 28. Yet I see people encouraging *buying* tickets before Apr 28 to keep old earning. What is correct?
Thanks for any light you may shed on this.
The website states clearly that the changes apply to
bookings made after April 28. From ba.com:
The majority of these changes will come into effect at 00:00 British Summer Time (GMT +1) on 28 April and will only apply to bookings made after this time. You will continue to collect and spend Avios and Tier Points at today’s rates on bookings made up until this time – even if you are flying after this date. The additional opportunities to upgrade using Avios will be available by the end of the year.
If I have an existing booking for travel after 28 April, will I collect Avios and Tier Points based on the new rules?
No. All existing bookings will be honoured under the current rules; the new rules will only be applied to new bookings made on or after 28 April 2015.
If I would collect more Avios on an existing booking under the new rules, can I claim for the additional Avios?
No. All existing bookings made up to and including 27 April 2015 will collect Avios under the current rules. Only new bookings made on or after 28 April will collect Avios under the new rules.
Could I collect fewer Avios on an existing booking than I was expecting because of the new rules?
No. All existing bookings made up to and including 27 April 2015 will collect Avios under the current rules. Only new bookings made on or after 28 April will collect Avios under the new rules.
