Just five minutes by car south of the Hilton is the recently opened Netherlands National Military Museum. It's great for kids of any age. Most of it is made up of modern interactive exhibits and almost all are bilingual in Dutch and English. People interested in historic arms may like their very impressive collection.
The museum grounds themselves are worth a visit. Being a former US Air Force Base (Camp New Amsterdam) you'll find many former shelters. It's runway is now being utilised by glider planes. You may watch these from a historic wooden observation building or from the impressive 360 degrees observation tower inside of the museum. The observation tower is in the public area of the museum and has no entrance fee.
