I am also new to Flyer Talk and would appreciate some help / info.

I am also interested in MR but is a newbie. Had flown to visit certain friends before end of year to qualify or requalify for status (AC Elite, NW Silver) but have not done one specifically for milage. Have been stuck in airports too much on business to enjoy that for the sake of miles.

I am currently in CLE during the week and will be going to New Orleans MSY on vacation for Feb 13-20 and need to be in Las Vegas Feb 22 evening to 25 for a conference.

I was wondering if someone has some ideas for airline routings either for shortest travel time or maybe going through NYC via Florida for MSY or NYC via CA for Las Vegas to qualify for the AA AANYC promotion? Also, have been unhappy with both AC and NW due to delayed, cancelled and involuntary bumping so wondering if it is worth doing the AA Gold/Platinum challenge. Being based out of Canada, been flying mostly AC before but planning to do a bit of international travel and might be good to have status with a few airlines.
