I booked two of these, one on Expedia and one on Travelocity. I've got DXB-LHR-DFW-AUS with the highlight being Quantas on DXB-LHR. My other one is DXB-LHR-LAX-AUS all on BA. I took the approach of book now, utilize 24 hour cancellation (not hold, learned my lesson), then figure things out. Apart from a cheap first class ticket, what are the perks of this from a mileage perspective? As I understand, it won't qualify for AA's bonus points for class of service, so I will just get the normal 1.5 EQP's per mile, 150% redeemable miles (100% miles flown plus 50% class of service bonus), plus my 100% EXP miles. So, for the second trip, miles are roughly 10K. So, I'd get 10K EQM, 15K EQP, 25K redeemable miles? The reason I ask is while I would enjoy a first class trip, from a mileage run perspective (I use that term loosely since this is first class) it's not great (please don't interpret that as not being appreciative of the deal being posted). I'm trying to weigh the options of spending $3K for only 20K EQM when I usually spend $3K for 80K EQM's for the year, so want to make sure I'm not missing something.

As a side note, nothing beats the rush of looking and booking a great deal...I had plans to catch up on House of Cards last night...that didn't happen since I was reading and booking.
