Apparently some believe that parents of children 2-5 who Southwest does not accept as unaccompanied minors should be forced to board with the assigned number of their child, or at least after the truly entitled are boarded, regardless of the status of the parent. Even purchasing Early Boarding does not fully erase the inequity.
Finally family boarding applied only to accompanied children 4 or under so children 5 to 11 which Southwest will not permit to fly without special accommodation are required to either board independent or their parents are required to give up their earned boarding position.
What do you think. I think it's kind of crazy.
I'm not sure how many people agree with your second through fourth statements. I do not. I absolutely agree 100% that it's crazy; many portions of the boarding policy are asinine.
To make my point in this discussion completely clear: The policy is
stupid and makes
no sense whatsoever. The problem is that, unfortunately, as nonsensical as it is,
it is the policy.
This is just one of the more stupid policies Southwest has; there are, of course, others, some of which have been mentioned earlier.
Southwest allows these types of stupid, nonsensical policies to exist because it allows them to walk both sides of the fence: "Our boarding system is valid, and we must respect it's integrity." "We are family friendly."
Respectfully, it's one thing to say that a policy is stupid and you are taking your chances and disregarding it because you feel that way. It's another to say that it's stupid therefore it doesn't exist.
As an example, personally, I have never claimed that there are no such things as speed limits.
