I am passing through Frankfurt twice over the next few months, and hoping to use the opportunity to pick up some Rimowa bags.
The first time I have 1 hr 30 in between flights (early morning, Schengen-Schengen) and the second time I have 2 hrs between flights (mid-morning, Schengen-non-Schengen).
I know that I can get carry on bags delivered to the gate which I guess should work, but I was also hoping to pick up a check-in size bag as well. My plan would be to come out of security and immigration (EU passport), visit the Worldshop (having ordered in advance), put the new carry on into the new big bag and check in the big bag. My questions are:
1. Is this even possible if I am on a through ticket i.e. can I check in a bag half-way through?
2. If so, would 2 hours to do all this be enough time?
3. If on the day it clearly won't work, can I later cancel my order or will I end up with a paid for bag stuck in Frankfurt?
4. Is it better to try the first time or the second time?
5. The two bags are the LH Elegance Cabin Trolley and LH Elegance Multiwheel Large size case. According to the dimensions one should fit inside the other but can anyone confirm?
I would try to claim the VAT back when I leave the EU (which I think is the correct procedure) at an airport where I should have more time, so that should make things a bit quicker.
Thank you for your thoughts!
