We flew Maui to Calgary (flight was late arriving in Calgary), Calgary to Toronto on a later flight than we were originally booked on, then had another connection to make in Toronto...which we were able to be there for before they started boarding but the agent told us that our bags missed the 45 minute cut off. It's computerized she said. Is that not a rule?
