The reason for asking is that I am thinking about crediting my upcoming flight (ticketed and flown by US Airways) to Alaskan Airlines program if my US Airways flights are coded as AA flights. It will then allow me to park my miles in AS program rather than AA program since I have already requalified for EXP.

Please share any experiences with this regards and I apologize if this has already been discussed!
Not exactly. While separate codes were still used, Flight numbers aligned several months back so that any given number only operated on LUS or LAA.

With today's change, US no longer exists with regard to ATC communications thus all flight plans are filed as AA flights and the ATC communication refers to the AA code regardless of which metal is being flown. Same is now true of on-board announcements (and perhaps gate, I'm not sure).

However, the US code still exists in the reservation systems and will continue to do so until they begin the move to a single reservation (PSS) system.
