In order to reply to the thread started by myself: Though many probably thought a day flight USA to Ireland would never happen, it already will 2 months from now. Just not from Boston, but from New York JFK.
Already 5 months ago,
Aer Lingus announced the new day flights.
Above, I dreamed about a possible day flight service from Boston:
For a possible Aer Lingus Dublin to Boston service, things would be different, with an early morning scheduled departure in DUB f.e. at 6.00 a.m. (with actual take-off normally happening a little later, because of US pre-clearance), arriving in BOS 8.05 a.m. after their usual 7h 5mins scheduled flight time. The turnaround time at Boston for the late afternoon B757 usually is 3h 40mins, meaning in case of leaving f.e. BOS 11.45 a.m. the flight would arrive DUB 10.55 p.m. (22.55) after their usual 6h 10mins flight time. Not being aware of any curfew at DUB, it would technically be possible, and the Dublin departure could possible be later respectively return arrival possibly could be even earlier if it was feasible to plan with a shorter turnaround time.
So now it turns out,
instead of the imaginary 6.00a.m.-8.05a.m., 11.45a.m.-10.55p.m.,
actual flight times will be 7.50a.m.-10.20a.m., 12.00noon-11.40p.m.
- so nearly 2h to 1h later than my speculation, and to me it seems amazing that they were able to pull it off, though it's the longer route from/to New York instead of Boston. So the actual flight takes longer than my calculation, but also the turnaround time seems amazing: just 1h 40mins in JFK! (Probably still a little padding included in the scheduled flight times?)
So 7.50a.m. will be a more humane time to depart in Dublin, as other posters in this thread complained that 6.00a.m. was too early.

And of course it makes sense, that while I noted Dublin possibly was not big enough of a market for this connection, actually Aer Lingus chose the bigger market over in the US, New York instead of Boston, to start this service. Of course this makes sense. Just would not have dreamed that this short turnaround time could be used in JFK, and that a dayflight with full utilization like this could work time-wise with the longer flight distance to JFK. But appearantly, it will.
The only drawback seems to be, that the service is limited to the peak season of June 8 to August 30 (no departure from New York August 8, no departure from Dublin August 16). Of course it's the "operated by Air Contractors" B757, just as speculated above, not an A330 (yes, the B757 does not have WiFi, does not have the new business class, still the angled lay-flat Business Class seats should be fine when one can actually sleep in an actual comfortable bed, not while traveling to Ireland, but after arriving in Ireland, thanks to the dayflight.

)
Now in addition to this, I still wish for a day flight like this from Boston.

Next summer season, maybe?
