A European turnaround takes about 16 hours, while a NA turnaround takes from 34 to 36 hours, and an aircraft needs on average about 2 hours on the ground in DXB between flights. It's much easier to fit in a shorter turnaround. It's one of the reasons they just announced upgaging some of the BEY flights using a 77L a few days a week (about a 10 hour turnaround), so that they can get better utilization of aircraft that otherwise would be sitting on the ground in DXB. By checking out a site such as flightradar24.com you can plug in the individual frame registrations and get the information of which aircraft flew what routes at what timings over the past week. It's quite easy to plot it all on a sheet and get an idea of how they schedule the fleet. One schedule quirk that sticks out is the amount of time aircraft operating EK707/708 sit in SEZ. Almost 10 1/2 hours!
A quirk that I expect someone at network operations has been itching to sort out for a while (and is waiting for new routes and airframes to arrive!) as it messes up his beautiful spreadsheets!
