KOA has seen material reductions (2 x LAX to 1 x LAX, with many flights downgraded in capacity).

OGG and HNL have some 737s in the mix, and OGG is mostly narrow body. These markets used to be nearly 100% widebody.

Meanwhile, OGG is booming from a tourism perspective, yet UA is smaller in OGG than it was just a few years ago.
Well let's go to the source from this 10 years ago you speak of my friend...

LIH...

Was 1x LAX, 1-2X SFO, just 757s

Today...

1-2x SFO, with 1 757 and a 738
1x LAX with a 757

That's 'about half'

OGG...

Was 3-4x SFO, 1 on widebody
2-3x LAX, 1 on widebody

Now 3-5x SFO on 753s and 738s
2-4x LAX on 752s

Not seeing major cuts here. More frequency the theme. Maybe Alaska picked up some growth, but it was Aloha that pioneered those 2nd tier airport routes from CA and Alaska capitalized on its demise.

UA is doing just fine with lift out of SFO and LAX to Hawaii despite all the competition that comes and goes to the islands.

Oh, and another fun fact from that timetable.

Not a single widebody from Dulles to SFO!!!
