Hotel might call the police and the police escorts you out. Happens down here every now and then when some drunks or jerks would not vacate their rooms.
However how rude this sounds, I'm inclined to agree. What rights do you have to insist on extending your stay? If the hotel is full, and (presumably) you get to extend, the hotel would have to walk another guest. If the other guest was you, I don't think you'll be too happy would you?
Why not give the hotel a ring and check if there are any rooms available for extention and if there isn't, well, book another hotel.
