Do not count on the AA.com seat map to represent unsold seats. Not all seats get assigned at time of sale. If you have access to EF, then go in and check the fare buckets. Chances are you will see F0 meaning all seats have been sold or committed. Some of the longer flights will have a seat or two in F reserved as pilot rest seats per their contract.
