Silver vs Gold - hassle vs benefit
Hello Fellow travelers
I have hit Silver within the first 3 months of this year and pleased. I anticipate Gold by the end of my year.
I frequently travel to Asia on business and some to USA longhauls on Business and short hauls within europe in Eco
I am wondering if the hassle of trying to get to Gold as the next level would be really worth the benefit and effort.
Generally speaking BA would be £100 - 200 more expensive compared to rivals EK, EY in Business and 50 - 100 more expensive in Short haul economy
The benefits of gold ie First lounge use, Seat bookings etc - are they enough to offset the increased cost and hassle? One major difference I can think of is the reduced avios for Silver from April 28.
Silver benefits are not far - I do get Lounge access, priority boarding etc.
I know FF status is very individual but what do my esteemed colleagues think - is Gold really worth it over and above Silver?
