It is correct that information gets destroyed eventually. However, due to legal reasons (statute of limitation, PATRIOT Act, etc.), banks in fact keep their records longer than you think.
At the least - closed accounts show in your CR for 7-10 years.
It is only a matter on how you can get Chase to send you the information.
Go to your local branch or take this up to a higher chain.
