Thanks for the suggestions. Fortunately, by the time I landed in PHX, I had received a voicemail saying that they were able to get everything straightened out again. I didn't bother asking what happened and how they got it resolved when I checked in as I had some restless kids after a long trip. Hopefully I'll never face a similar situation in the future, but I know what to ask for.
