I'll second the Briggs & Riley. After a long search myself, I picked up a B&R Verb Amplify a few months ago and love it (and at a steal of a price on STP).

Its expandable, yet I can carry my Zojirushi thermos in the back pocket without needing to expand it. Built like a tank and well designed in layout with aesthetically professional appearance. I carry a small Tom Bihn accessory bag for my power cables, adapters, and miscellany that i keep in the back, along with my noise reducing headphones when flying.

Has a passthrough sleeve that works great with my roller.

I'm a big fan of the Tom Bihn Absolute shoulder straps, but the included B&R strap works great and the well thought out placement of the loops is a contributing factor.

They have a variety of sizes, so probably one fits your need. The only downside I've encountered is that it no longer fits underneath the aisle seats on the newer redesigned AA planes due to the AV equipment now there. (It does easily fit under the middle or window seats though). That said, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Good luck!
