To help us try and find an explanation can you answer some questions?

Did you make the booking online or over the phone?

Did the itinerary only include Singapore Airlines flights?

What did your itinerary say the taxes/surcharges were?

What date did you make the booking? This one may be critical as SQ reduced their fuel surcharges on 27 Feb and the $100 difference sounds about right.
