Free breakfast for 3 or more people: possible?
I'm Gold with both Marriott (through United) and Hilton (through frequent stays). On paper they have the same policy: free breakfast for 2.
At Hilton, I've always been able to get breakfast for more than 2, if more than 2 guests were registered to the room. I've never had to ask; the front desk agent would just stuff extra vouchers into the room key envelope.
At Marriott, well, today was the first time I've needed breakfast for 3. The front desk agent handed me a voucher which he said was good for 2 people. I asked politely if a third person could have breakfast. His colleague must have overheard my question because the colleague interrupted us, glared at me, and deadpanned: "The voucher is for 2 people."
I read the voucher and what strikes me is it seems to be a brand standard. (Hiltons don't have standardized vouchers; each hotel prints its own.) The printed verbiage suggests that all Marriotts limit breakfast to "you and one guest." Do any Marriotts grant exceptions to this?
