If living in UK is for a short time the OW choices are BA vs AA. But what are your objectives from a ffp?
AA is good for long haul awards, unless on BA where $$ surcharges need to be paid. BA is good for short haul awards, even in the USA.
BA Sapphire status will get you
lounge access in USA on AA domestic trips. AA Sapphire status will not, unless on an international itinerary.
AA has the plat challenge for faster status. With your planned trips that would be achievable.
I would be favouring AA
