Very loud housekeeping in the early AM
Hey folks, hoping someone has advice. On my last three Hilton stays, I've been awakened before I'd have cared to by loud housekeeping staff - slamming doors, shoving things into walls, generally making it pretty hard to sleep. Yes, this just happened again, prior to 9 AM on a Saturday morning at the Hilton Penn Station Newark, which is otherwise one of my more favorite properties. I get that they have work to do, but my POV is that I've paid over $100 for a room and would like to enjoy a restful stay since I usually have things to do later.
Anyway, complaining to management doesn't seem to solve the problem (very quickly, anyway) and complaining to the staff in question usually just means they treat ME like I'm the one being 'unreasonable'. Again, I do get that they have work to do - but really, slamming doors? This AM was so loud I would have actually thought they were conducting construction or something in there. Also, this is the Hhonors floor...
Is there anything I can do? It's getting where I almost dread staying in a hotel because I KNOW I'm going to get the slam/bang wakeup call. Would asking for a higher/lower floor, or mentioning my concerns at checkin, help? Thanks for any thoughts. I know this sounds like a little thing, but I'm honestly reconsidering my loyalty over this. I just like to know I'm going to wake up when *I* want to, not when someone else chooses that for me. (Then, even when I can get them to knock off the noise, having had to escalate the situation usually makes me so frustrated I have trouble getting back to sleep. Argh!)
