Surprisingly, the hardest, most uncomfortable bed I have experienced was on the executive floor of the Hilton Nagoya. I actually had to use a prescription opiate to get any sleep at all. It was like sleeping on a concrete bench. I haven't had anything that bad in cheap Japanese business hotels.
The reliably best I have found have been Hilton Garden Inns.
