I think everyone's a "true" frequent flyer until they meet someone who flies more than they do.

My boss is a 4M+ on UA who was recruited by the DL CEO (personally) to switch over. I'd say he's a frequent flyer.

Me? I've never been to alaska. So maybe that makes me a not so frequent AS flyer even though I've been MVP for 7-8 years and gold for the past 2-3.

As far as programs to love or hate, I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip out on UA status this year and book trips that make sense for AS banking, and that's after 4 years of being gold or plat on UA. If i'm flying *A it's usually in biz anyway, so there are no incremental benefits of being an elite... and the DL/AA/AS world is generally good enough to get me where I need to go domestically.

My real heartburn this year is about whether or not to keep my UA presidential plus card. Waives the $ spend requirement, gets me lounge access plus a few other perks... but if I'm not flying UA, it's really just an inconvenient lounge membership at that point (yay, time to trek from A to N).
