As to whether I should have raised with crew proactively, it's that uncertainty around whether or not it's an exit row (seemingly so when you check-in online, but never advised on board to read a specific set of instructions). And I tend to let people get on with their jobs on-board - unless I was absolutely certain there was an issue / it was serious (e.g. Is that engine cowling fastened properly?) I'd be unlikely to butt in... (And FT gets a more interesting discussion going!)
Well better to raise it with the crew. Just as I wish the total a/hole sitting behind me on a flight back from HKG the other night proceeded to violently kick the back of my seat numerous times as he thought I was snoring the bit out. It was the guy in the seat beside me causing the noise, which was drowned out once the earplugs went in.
