Well for follow up, according to Cathay Pacific Service Center (4th call got through):

BA bookings with ticket #s starting in 125 can't checkin online @ cathaypacific.com (though I do recall doing so in 2012 & 2013..), but my reservation all looks good, no problems.

Hopefully no surprises at airport tomorrow then.
