where are good threads on redeeming points for merchandise or rental cars.

i forget what thread i was in and someone was stating that redeeming for merchandise was a waste of points.

i just want to know i have some bank of america worldpoints (about 47,000)and i was thinking of redeeming for a rental car for my orlando trip at 27,600 points or 276.00 for 3 days. i dont know if i should just spend cash.

or i was thinking of using it for airport transfer or excursions for about the same prices.

i dont think i can transfer these worldpoints or at least on the website i cannot see.
