Fly or drive? One could easily spend a week in California wine country if you haven't done that. Alternatively, drive along the coast, either north or south, to the USA border, but don't try to do both in one week.
If you're flying, remember that the US$ is currently high, so this might be a good time to explore a foreign destination. Argentina's blue exchange rate makes it a good brgain for anything you pay with local cash, but there is an "entry (reciprocity) fee" of about $150. Similarly, note that China requires an expensive visa.
