Those mileage runs were real, old-fashioned runs, during which the longest time I was at any single airport was for 5 hours. Anyway, pure mileage runs make up a good 56.5% of my AA flying. Is this healthy?

This is crazy! What, may I ask, does AA Plat get you for your 3 trips a year that makes it worthwhile for you to spend untold hours and hundreds of dollars on a plane for no particular reason? It would seem fare more cost effective to just purchase whatever perks those might be!
