Are you going to be flying elsewhere across the OW alliance in the near future? if so, then Sapphire/GO is a very useful step-up from Ruby/SL as it gets you business class lounge access, priority boarding etc. In contrast, SL will get you very few benefits outside of a CX/KA flight.
