On the UPG issue discussed, I was able to UPG the S fare JFK-ZRH-JFK segments using VIPOW's. At first, when I called to request the UPG, I was told no UPG allowed, except on the domestic segments, using e-certs, because of the S fare basis. Then, of course, using the "try try again" method I was told I could not UPG the international segments, but that a supervisor would call back. She did and after a discussion and my giving her the StarFile# for the VIPOW, she said she would add that to the record.

Today, I check for available seats on-line and my 21B, reserved, coach seats show available. I call and sure enough, I'm UPG'd to C, except on the domestic segments, where they have not released the few remaining seats.

The moral of the story, use the right tool for the job and if you are right, never take no for an answer.
