And under 121 operations that alternate has be within 1 hour flying time for an AC with 2 engines. Which isn't really an ideal situation when you have smoke/fire in the AC or some other situation where you must get on the ground fast.

Also, you have to consider what UA's Ops manual allows. This would be a good question to post in the Ask the UA Pilot a question thread.
