Did this MR solo in March - had a ball! There was plenty of room in the AA777 coach section to stretch out - food was not bad - individual video screens with adequate entertainment options. I got a fairly cheap room at the Holiday Inn Narita for 2 nights - about 7000 yen - check their website for specials (you get hotel points based on the USD exchange rate, not the yen) - accommodations were quite OK - most of the hotels have complimentary vans to/from the airport and train station in Narita - you can get to Toyko fairly easily from either. Hotel and airport staff speak English - ATMs and convenience stores all over the place. Nothing to be afraid of - lots of miles - good MR and opportunity to rest - no tipping in Japan - so things can be done fairly frugally. The AA $409 deal is a good one! If you get the crew I had - the legendary "granny" flight attendants - you'll have an even better time! Do it! If you have any questions, ask away! I wrote a trip report a while back "Neophyte in Narita" - you might want to look it up for more details...OOHH! Wouldn't mind doing it again! Best wishes!
