One of my MRs was cursed in this way as well, due to a mess of thunderstorms in Dallas, a misconnect, and a subsequent creative re-route (DFW gate agent: "You want to go WHERE?") to make it to a meeting at work the next morning. To make a long story short, I was at RDU from ~2 AM (4-hour delayed inbound from DFW) to 6:20 AM (Eagle flight to DCA). Not quite as long as CMK10's visit, but the timing couldn't have been worse, and I sure got some odd looks from security people who couldn't believe I had just arrived as a connecting passenger...

Anyway, like CMK10, I'd be far more worried about RDU than about turbulence.
