I once rented a pickup truck aswell at DFW after booking a compact (just for the sake of trying it once). Never again tho The GF couldn't handle the constant feeling of ending up as a milkshake due to the rattling and bumping

DFW employees are very open to upselling/upgrades tho if you get to know them a little. Usually I try to get their number so next time I come in I text them a hour before coming in asking them if they can put a few cars apart which they are happy to do so I can choose. DAL (love) are even better and super nice BUT they hardly ever have any decent cars sadly (Note tho that you can rent from DFW & DAL and just drop 'em off for free at the other or just 'change' them cause something is 'wrong'. So in case your not happy with what you got just bring it back to the other and you have more choice there then.

I miss the Penske GT btw... Wish it would come back ^@:-)
