Qantas is getting so many brickbats at the moment, I thought it was time to express my surprise that the QP at PER international is actually not only a decent lounge, but also offers some of the nicest politest service I've had from QF in a while.

Good bar - just walk up and help yourself. Decent wine. Sparkling. Good salad. Man at the food counter took me through what he was proud to say were the new hot options. Decent chicken and rice tonight.

Chap on reception greeted BA EC without a blink, showed me where showers, computers and coffee was.

And its busy, but just right with a couple of spare tables.

Earwigging everyone seems to be heading for LHR on CX or QR or EK or MH (who seem to have shut their lounge). EK next door busy too, but not as much.

So why did QF scrap PER? And are QF now turning into a lounge operator? Counted 68 in here tonight. At, what, $20, ? a pax charged to each airline, thats a decent turnover for the lounge.
