A technical question:

Many years ago I remember a demonstration clip showing an Airbus flying towards a mountain, on collision course, and than automatically program-controlled climbing to safely fly over the mountain. Maybe I remember wrongly? I thought the Airbus software could do this. So the crash could have been avoided, if the program would have refused the co-pilots input data to descend the airplane until crash. But maybe I am wrong and it doesn´t work this way.
No such thing exists. There is an EGPWS that will eventually start shouting "TERAIN TERAIN, PULL UP....PULL UP..." It is still up to the pilots to execute the manoeuvre. Whilst the clip may well have shown the EGPWS display on the ND and PFD, it was perhaps inter-spliced with an 'Alpha-Floor protection' demo. This Alpha-Floor relates to stall protection. E.g the pilot holds the stick back but the aircraft eventually maintains a pitch attitude and full thrust.
