He pressumably didn't have any vocalization of any sort, other than normal breathing, even though there was banging on the door, passenger cries, plane descenting, etc. This alone pretty much rules out any alternative explanations, IMO.
Again, as I said I think that a deliberate crash is most likely. But you are making an assumption, that is that he would make a sound. That may be likely but it isn't certain.
