A few other links back to the past that this thread made me look up:

• the program for IAD's grand opening over November 17-18 in 1962.

• a slideshow from the architecture firm behind the Interim Terminal renovation that makes it look halfway decent.

• the Post's story about the opening of the new National Airport terminal in 1997:

the first flight to arrive at the new terminal -- with no fanfare -- was a Piedmont Airlines commuter flight from Salisbury, Md., that pulled up at 7 a.m.
