What difference does it make? BA passes this along to the customers who MUST pay. As opposite to A Rose is a Rose no matter what name it is called - here we have A Skunk is a Skunk no matter how it is disguised it is still a Skunk and it Stinks!

It is a revenue item the airlines are fond of, and would not give up so they change the name and code to avoid litigation issues.

The bottom line, and the context of the discussion, IS that BA has been passing ALL the Carrier Imposed Surcharges regardless what name they are put under to the customers.

Again, what difference does it make when it is money out from one's pocket, be it YQ or YR that BA is infamous in passing along to its members on avios redemption while some other airlines dont and some countries actually forbid/restrict the practice, that you insist on arguing the YR is not the same in YQ due to its name, but choose to be completely blind to the essence of the issue.

In any case I get the drift that some people would keep on arguing for the arguing sake despite it provides no value and actually totally misleading information - but would never admit it because the names on the charges are technically different, despite the essence is the same and the treatment is the same - BA passes along all surcharges.

Instead of harping on the YR/YQ, FAA/DOT, why dont you give us some examples as guv1976 suggested that " If you can provide any counter-examples, I'm sure we would all be interested in learning of them." to substantiate your claim that BA does not pass along surcharges so we all can learn what we have missed all along and are forced to pay those surcharges out of our own pocket while you know how to avoid such, as you know BA does not pass it along? There must be a way to find out how to book an avios ticket and not to pay the surcharge if BA does not pass along, no?

Give us some examples, would you?

Finally, none of your posts have had any value to help the OP of the thread on his plan to use his points. Instead you hijacked the thread and indulge in endless arguments on YQ and YR which regardless the name, is still being passed along, while others are advising the OP of the thread to avoid such fleecing.
