Last year 88% of QX flights arrived on-time, so they are actually the most punctual regional carrier (apart from Hawaiian, if you count them). I find that they usually are very good about updating to reflect delays, if they know about them in advance. But, because AS/QX tend to be rather punctual, a lot of delays are the result of last minute mechanical issues or ground congestion that arises.

That being said, Alaska seems to have difficulty with "integrating" the boarding time on boarding passes to reflect different aircraft sizes and operating conditions. In reality, boarding on QX rarely starts more than 20 minutes prior to departure. It simply doesn't take that long to get 76 people on a Q400, especially when both doors are used.

I don't know why it is so hard for them to change the time printed on the boarding pass to reflect real-time flight info, but it just seems to be some programing default (Boarding time=SDT-30/40 min). On mainline AS, sometimes they now print the boarding time as 40 min prior to departure. That totally make sense on the first flight of the morning or a transcon, but on shorter flights with quick turns, it doesn't make sense. Sometimes a flight will be scheduled for a 40 minute turn and the boarding time will be listed as 40 minutes prior. There is no way boarding could begin that early unless the inbound arrived 15 min early!
