If you can access domestic First and Coach flights on American Airlines and US Airways, Avios can be quiet useful for redeeming tickets since no fuel charges is payble and airport taxes are minimal.

The one catch is that Avios prices by flight segment; so Avios tickets are fairly reasonable if your live at an AA/US hub and will require just one direct flight. Avios tickets are not good value if you have to take 2 or more separate AA/US flights to get to your destinations.
