I am just starting to think about my first MR, and am not sure if I have the 'philosophy' down.
I have (or will have) taken 2 qualifying RT on UA (no Sat night stay) by mid-September, and I want to take a 3rd one so I can get the free RT domestic ticket. For me, that would be worth $300-350, since I would likely not spend more to go cross-country on my own dime.
I have looked around (ual.com, all the on-line agencies) for a cheap, non-Sat fare and have come up with $283 DCA-ORD and $149 IAD-LGA. Do either of these sound reasonable?
My thinking is that, in itself, they are not great fares, but if you consider that I would get an extra $350 ticket out it, then it might not seem so bad.
Complicating the matter is that my work schedule (and work travel on non-UA lines) will severly limit the days I can do it between now and Sept 30, when the promotion ends.
Any thoughts from the older and wiser MR crew would be most appreciated.
