Part 9: Le Gorge du Verdon

We make an earlyish start to the day with fresh pastries and bread from the local bakery as well as some rather stale tasting coffee from the gite. We packed our stuff up and headed out. The view from the terrace was quite special.

We started with a gentle drive and took the fisherman's path down to the base of the canyon and back up again. Whilst it was not as arduous as some of the other walks we had done the path was not the easiest for the unfit and untrained foot.

We were rewarded with some spectacular scenery and some interesting wildlife, some more alive than others …

The final stretch of the trail was the most fun as the path had become a small stream. It felt like a good achievement on reaching the top.

We then drove for twenty or thirty minutes to Moustieres but unfortunately missed the restaurant we had planned for lunch by a good half an hour. Oh well… instead we settled for kebab and chips (which were much better than those I had the night before). The kebab was fresh from the freezer and not particularly nice, but after that long trek it tasted like the best thing on earth. The little bakery also served one of the nicest capsule based coffees I've ever had.

Tired we faced up to the long drive home.
