I think AP is still an acceptable program, heavily devalued as it is since the past few years. At least one can still get to, say, London in Y for just 25,000 miles (sometimes). DL SM on the other hand is completely useless except for very short hops within North America. I might as well fly with whoever is cheapest with a revenue ticket - there's no need for loyalty.
