I feel more calmed now knowing that I would have time to do it. Especially when Delta's local customer service has no idea.

I thought that I may need to do customs in MSP at departure time with US and in YEG upon arrival with CA which was what worried me - I arrive to NYC at JFK and customs are always way too long for non-US residents/citizens, it could take more than an hour when multiple 777 arrive from outside US.

I'm always afraid to take connections which are less than 2 hours!
As a general rule, USA doesn't do outbound customs or passport checks, although the airline is responsible for the latter.

Don't forget that you'll probably need visas for both USA and Canada.
